Tourny Question?

Tourny Question? - 10/14/15 02:30 PM

Don't fish a lot of tournys, so I have a question.......
Going to Fork weekend of 24th&25th with my son and we are thinking about fishing
Basscat. Tourny fishing ends at 3:00 on Saturday, entry form says no off limits.
Does this mean it is ok to fun fish in the evening on Saturday even though it is
mid tourney?

Thanks

Most 2-day tournaments are off limits on that Saturday and im sure this is too considering the prizes. The "No Off Limits" is up til the tournament weekend. You can fish all the way up til the Friday before. I could be wrong but I dont see being allowed to fish mid-tourney evening

I wouldn't think so.....many moons ago during a Honey Hole Championship....a team was on the lake after the first day of fishing had completed....they were DQ'd....and I don't mean Dairy Queen'd....hard lesson learned...IMO, stay off the lake after the weigh in...

You must stay off the lake after weigh in until the next morning of the tourney.

Not all tournaments are the same. Most state the specific hours you can be on the water after day one. If this one doesn't, simply call the tournament director. Don't rely on someone who thinks they know the answer to tell you.

I have not looked at this years rules, but in years past and even last year it was legal to fish after weigh in on Saturday,

This...

A couple of years ago, we had boat issues on day one of our championship. We made sure to ask the TD for permission to run the boat Saturday night after we had done repairs.

Tommy, I assume we can come to weigh in and then go put our boat on the trailer if we launched elsewhere? Am I correct or do we have to load and then trailer to the weigh in?

Yes you can go back to the ramp you launched from or you can leave your boat in the water. You just can't fish!

Thanks guys for the input. Have never fished Basscat and it sounds like a lot of fun.
May just have to punt on the evening fishing and give it a try.

You could run over to Holbrook or Quiman and fish that evening..its only about 15-20 min down the road.

Solid idea. Didn't think of that.

looking at the Berkley rules; don't see anything about not fishing on Saturday evening (at least until 8 pm, which is dark).

Quitman is small and fun, easy to figure out in a short period of time.
