Theory on Fish Location After Flooding & Dam Releases

I don't have a graph because if I buy one before I get married I might not have a fiance as she already puts up a lot catering to my addiction. Therefore, I really don't know where the fish went. I mostly fish PK and Alan Henry and ever since all the rain came fishing has been tough...real tough. Like I said, I don't have a graph so I usually fish structure that I can see 0-15 ft deep. I've seen more bait fish schools, up shallow, on both of those lakes than I've ever seen in my life, but the bass aren't there chasing them. We didn't even catch a sandy! Anyway, enough complaints...I think the current during the rains either

1) swept the fish into deeper water or closer to the dam
2) deeper current provides more O2 and better temperatures
3) there is an even more abundant source of forage for bass down deep in the channel

Basically I think the deep current attracted or moved the fish and now they don't want to come out for some reason. Anyone with a graph or explanation of this theory would be appreciated.

You can buy a cheap graph for like $80.....won't be a 12" screen but atleast you'll know where you are and depth and any arches or structure

With flooded water levels the fish are more spread out. However, they still look for the same things consistently. Cleaner water, elevation changes, places to hide and bait. If you can find a solid combination of those things, you should find the fish.
Example: Just because you see flooded grass doesn't mean the fish are there...rather look for flooded grass next to something of structure or cover. Fish wont just chill on a grass flat. They prefer to ambush. Fish will result to what they know. Sure they will go scout out new water, but they will come back to their main "area" consistently. I've noticed the cleaner the water, the better the fishing. Maybe something you should look for.

With the dam releases, lot of "non current" lakes (most lakes in the area are non current lakes) are hard to fish when water is being let out. Try to fish the times around when the gates are open. Just a few ideas for you. But like Ranger stated...cheap graphs for $80 can be found and will help you a lot!

I'm not sure how significant the flooding you are dealing with is but when the lakes that I fish rise, I fish the new vegetation for as long as the fish are up there. I'll start by throwing a frog on the bank and work it into the water to see if they are up that shallow with their nose on the bank. If they are, then this is an awesome way to catch em! Next I'll start flipping the willows or bushes but I normally have better luck in willows with some green stuff on them. I'll fish these until I can't catch any more this way. They'll normally leave this shallow cover and go back a little deeper after a while and at that point I'll hit the deeper tree/bush lines with big worms or crankbaits
