Kennedale HS Outdoor Education club and competitive bass fishing team. - 08/08/15 02:34 AM

This year marks our second year of having Adventures in Outdoor Education as a class. We had 230 kids participate last year! We also started up a competitive bass fishing team and this year will be our inaugural year of a competitive archery team as well. If you are like me, you have a bunch of fishing equipment or lures laying around that you will never use. If you do, and would like to donate them to a great cause in giving them to kids to use, I would gladly take them off your hands and issue them to the kids to use on their own while fishing tourneys or fishing for fun. We have had great support for this program...from many individuals, companies, and the school admin. We are just trying to give tools to kids that they can use while participating in lifelong productive activities to help keep them out of trouble. If you would like to donate, just send me a PM and we can make arrangements to pick items up. Thank you!

We had a bunch of lures and items donated last year from individuals and every bit of it was given away to the kids at our 2nd Annual Outdoor Ed Club fishing tourney. We are expecting an enrollment of at least 50 kids in the Outdoor Ed program this year. Started with seven 3 years ago. Had 26 the second year.. Had 40 last year.

Good to see these things happening at such a small school.

Over 200 schools in Texas now involved with and using the Adventures in Outdoor Education curriculum. I just wish there was a way for the kids to take these types classes all 4 years of their high school experience and get credits that count towards their diplomas. As it stands now, kids can only take one year of it during HS. We are expanding it to our after school program as well this year. Kids love it!

I started the class in Granbury two years ago. I would love to start an archery team/club as well as a fishing team/club. Maybe one of these days I'll get out of coaching so I can. First year I have right at 30 students. Last year I had 75. I am expecting more this year. Great class for the students and it is a blast to teach!

Not looking to steal anything from Kennedale's program, but we are also looking for donations, more or less looking at plastics and lures of all types.

D Kissinger...follow our program on Facebook at Kennedale HS Outdoor Education Club for all our activities and programs. Let me know if you need help in getting a bass fishing team and/or an archery team up and running. I can point you to the people who run them.
