Alvarado Chunk

Went fishing with my good friend WCLBASS this morning at Alvarado.

Wasn't sure how we were going to fair with the full moon, heat and blue bird sky. We managed to catch 12 with 5 keepers for probably close to 16 1/2 lbs.

Kicker fish was this 7.7 that WC caught mid morning.

Man, nice fish... beats my personal best out there by a decent margin for sure!

Nice!That lake has a lot of big fish. I've caught a 9.7 from there and countless between 6-8. It's just overpopulated with 8-12" fish.

It is fairly clear all over the lake, a little murky in areas, but the best I have seen in months.

Touchdown on the nice fish. Looking forward to going there soon, is the water in the reeds looking good, depth wise?

I caught an 8.4 there in March. It is a good little lake. I probably wouldn't go there on the weekend, and it is hard to launch and load the boat for me. Not enough turning room. But all in all, definitely worth fishing again.

Reeds are getting skinny 10 to 14" at best

I can take you to 3 places off the top of my head that is at least 24 inches of water on them... and one place is pretty big and I'll bet there is 30+ inches on it.

The high water actually seems to be killing off some of them. they are thinner and a different color in a lot of places compared to what they have been... Reeds cycle just like other plants
