crank baits

Looking to get some new cranks baits and I am looking at tackle warehouse. I don't really have anything right now as I have been mostly crappie fishing on my small pond.

What are some of y'alls favorite brand and colors of crank baits, will probably buy a few different ones in each diving depth.

Strike King 1.5 and 2.5 are a good start and fairly cheap.

Just recently the Academy brand H2Os came up in a thread. I have always wondered about them so due to a few positive post about them I decided to give them a shot. Bought 15 of them for 49 dollars after tax. Bunch of them on sale for 2.99. Threw them all day yesterday along with some 6XDs and 8XDs. Good baits for the price. Save yourself some money and get some of those to cover all the depths you need. I got all square bills in different sizes so cannot comment on deeper divers but if they are anything like their shallow brethren then they run true. Also get some with and some without rattles. Experiment with both each trip too see which gets hit best

H20 is a good place to start....they are cheap but fish well. that way you won't break that bank when you loose a few and you will loose a few

Oh I have lost plenty, I use to have a boat and had a nice tackle box full of stuff. I have now fish out of a kayak but my tackle box is empty. We built a nice little fishing pond down at my cabin and there are a lot of stumps and holes in it. Probably a few hundred dollars worth a lures from me and my brother down there also....

Some other brands that have worked well for most of us include Bandit; Bill Norman; Rapala (the DT series) and some others. Mix and match depths, like I would consider a Rapala DT6 to go with the Bandit 200 and the Norman Middle N. Each has a distinct wobble/wiggle and sound, so hopefully, you can get a good selection w/o breaking the bank. There are some more expensive baits that most of us swear by, but not to load the boat, except with fish. Things such as 6th Sense, Yo-zuri, Megabass, Lucky Craft and the handmade baits of Stanford Cedar Lures and Gary Dees D-baits, to name a few. But, the first brands mentioned, including your Bagleys are good selections to start with. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Check out the lure building sub forum on this site. There are some very talented people painting any kind of crankbait that you could imagine. Most of which look much better than what you will find on a shelf somewhere. Prices are comparable too.
