Falcon Bucoo 7ft6 - 07/01/15 03:09 AM

Good evening,

I was given a 7ft6 falcon bucoo tonight in medium action with moderate taper. Anyone used these rods? What's your experience? Will it make a decent cranking rod or can I use it on other presentations? Never owned a rod over 7ft so dunno what to expect.

Should be a great crankin rod!

Yes it is. I guess I'll hook it up as a cranking rod just need to find a winch to go with it. May even throw some spinnerbaits in the fall as well.

I have one, it's great for small cranks and top waters

nothing bigger than a little n and thats pushing it, rod is very limber.

So you all would recommend shallow cranking or square bills and stay away from the deep divers? Was looking to add an Abu Garcia SX gen3

Deep divers, because of their weight and drag, and medium power rods are not a good combination. If I had to use one rod for deep divers AND smaller/lighter cranks(squarebills) I would go with a 7'(or longer) MH action rod with a lighter tip(medium or fast). Assuming you are talking about DD22 class cranks when you say "deep divers".

Went out this morning and threw around some on Stillhouse Hollow. Threw Small Squarebills and even a Buzzbait. Was really suprised how far a buzzbait flew on this rod and how easy it ran back to the boat. With the crankbaits this rod was shaking pretty good As 90 5.0 stated the rod is very limber but does have enough backbone as we caught 12 over 3 pounds. Very good rod for the money I agree with you guys it will make a great niche rod in my arsenal.

Around the island we found that the hydrilla is growing but is still pretty deep in the water from all the rain we've had. We threw football head jigs in about 20 ft were we found some grass and pegged 8 caught 6 this morning off buzz baits and spooks. But the big bites came when we found grass in 16ft to 20ft fish were suspended and just hit em right I guess with shallow to mid cranks over the top.

Cranks and walking baits. itll also be great for lipless/rattletraps and rippin em through grass and flats.

way to limber to rip traps in grass imo, but good for burning traps in open water.
