Night Fishing? - 06/24/15 02:19 AM
What techniques, lures, ect work the best? If using cranks or spinners do you slow the
retrieve down?

ones that displace water, spinner baits, cranks. I also, like jigs.
Slow rolled black spinnerbaits with single Colorado blades either gold or Black works best.
Also try Black/ blue jigs with a matching hawg craw trailer.

So seems like the darker colors are the best to use at night. Good to know I was kinda clueless
on that.
nothing outfishes as power worm and brush hog and jigs

The same baits and colors that you catch them on and have confidence in during the day will also work at night. Thumping spinnerbaits and big worms in dark colors will certainly work well on a given night but don't limit yourself to only those types of baits or you will miss out on the nights when somethings else will get it done even better.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned topwater. I love to catch bass at night on black buzz baits, black Jitterbugs, and the old Musky Jitterbug, also in black. Pretty much any dark plastics will work well, too. Slow your retrieves down; with buzz baits, retrieve just fast enough to keep them on the surface - no faster.
Just my opinion, of course.
My favorite bait to use at night is a V&M Wild Thang 10.5 inch worm. The tails has a crazy action and creates a lot of vibration.

Vibrating Jig I use this most of the time. Sometime's I'll use a 10" or 13" worm.
Keep it simple. Dark colors. Spinnerbait, chatterbait, jig, big worm, buzzbait.

Slow and bump as much stuff as you can
Chatterbait, 10" black power worm, chatterbait, black/blue jig... Did I mention a chatterbait? Cane thumper or rage craw trailer.
