250 SHO Ringfree/Biobor

250 SHO Ringfree/Biobor - 06/21/15 01:22 PM

I recently purchased a boat with a 250 sho and I have been running Yamaha Ringfree but I know this is not a ethanol buster. Is it recommended that you run Ringfree and an ethanol buster such as Biobor? Also is there a certain octane you should run on the gas? This is my first four stroke and in the past I always ran Biobor on my pro xs. Thanks

Ringfree and Biobor and check the manuel for what octane gas to run.

My Skeeter Dealer told me to run midlevel octane 89 in my SHO along with Ringfree and ethanol stabilizer such as Biobor.

Theres a flavor of ring free with fuel additive ( for ethenol ) that's available:

I run this in the recommended dose plus I put about a 1/4 of the dose of biobor in too. Might be too much fuel treatment, but I've not had any issues. I also have a fuel water separator filter too. Newer model Skeeter probably came from the factory with this:

Change my H2O seperator along with lower gear oil annually its just part of engine maintenance.

Just trace the line from the build to the engine. My dealer and Yahmaha manual say 89 octane also. Mine's a 2014

I'm sure you have one with a SHO.

My new Merc 250XS has a fuel filter/water separator as big as the after market in-line types I have had on other boats. Its under the cowling. I assume this is adequate. The SHO not have a built-in separator?

You should have one mine was mounted directly in front of engine in the compartment you couldnt see it unless you stuck your head down in there to look you couldnt see it standing on the ground looking.
