Bass Fishing Iin Mexico - 06/11/15 04:54 PM

I have added bass fishing in Mexico to my bucket list. I am thinking about going sometime in Feb. 2016 but that date is open. I would like to fish a lake that is within 2 hrs. from the airport. Just looking for your personal info. I've checked out some of the lakes online.

Anybody been?
What is the best time to go?
Which lake?
Which outfitter?
What to expect?
What about travel?
What is the lodging like rooms with ac & water pressure?
How was the food breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hey Space,

Plenty of great info on this forum if you do a search.

There are certain lakes that are better for certain things. I don't think anyone will argue that Picachos is where to go for crazy numbers. Others are better for trophy hunting. Plenty of outfitters to choose from.

Here's a link to get you started....

It is an absolute blast. I go two to three times a year and look forward to it more than anything.

Tight lines,

Jackson

Pro Bass Adventures and Doug King. Went last Dec. caught numbers and big fish as well. Great accommodations, food and drink. Coffee in the AM right outside your door. Wonderful staff and knowledgeable guides. You can even get a massage if you want and at a reasonable cost too. The only place to go as far as I'm concerned. Pick your date. They go all year. I'm going back in Dec. again.

El Salto for sure, every other lake is just an also-ran.
Contact txstoby at 512-304-5534 he's tops when it comes to complete service and up to date fishing info.
For drive in trips, Donald Harper here on TFF is the only way to go.
We just returned from Salto.
Our group of 4 had 6 over 10 lbs.

Hey Doug it Bruce, im gonna throw this out there. If you dont book with doug you missing out. food great staff great "hollywoood" is a NUt funny and fun guy just like one of the guys. his staff will work there [censored] off for you, i fished with ernesto and estiban great guys, ernesto is good at english as well just take it easy with him but, like i said to doug the fishing will break the language barriar. we went last week of mar 2015 4 guys and caught between 330-350 bass in 4 days el salto.

Re: Bass Fishing Iin Mexico - 06/20/15 10:12 PM

Thanks Bruce.

We look forward to hosting you guys again soon. Bring those sick custom painted tilapia cranks you wailed 'em on!

I just threw a pig party at the lake for all of the guides, employees, and families. Fresh carnitas, chicharones, and unlimited Pacificos. Esteven got so drunk I had him speaking English. We have other great guides that speak good English, especially Jerry (Gerardo), but I have learned that they all know more English than they like to admit. They are just embarrassed to try and speak too much, unless you bust their balls and push them. Ample Pacifico ingestion seems to help!

We also have the only gringo guide on the lake if you want perfect English. American Erin Rogers lives in La Cruz and has guided on Salto for us for 13 years. He can supply all tackle, if desired, and has put his clients on more double digit fish than any guide on earth...fact! We have a program and options for everyone and every budget, and can customize anything to your liking, including food menus. I am so jacked up about the health of the lake and fish right now. I'm so looking forward to the Fall action after the rain fills the lake to 100% again, that I spent about $650 on more stuff I don't need today. Those damn online tackle retailers are killing me with the teaser sale emails. I need mental help...
