Remote Drain Plug install??? - 05/15/15 02:47 AM

Any info on some type of Remote Drain Plug installation that could prevent me from crawling under the Boat to pull the Plug.
Do they work?
Are the reliable?
How expensive to buy and install?

This would go on a 2013 Ranger Z520
Thanks for input.

I believe Ranger and a few others use this now. I installed one in my boat. They are reliable.
About $90. Installation is about 30 minutes.

I have the Flow-rite remote plug on my 2012 Ranger. I didn't install it, but the boat seems to drain extremely slowly with the actuator in the "open" position. I'm going to check to insure that the plug is making the full travel stroke when the actuator is moved to the open position.

You can forget ever flushing the bilge if you have one, and there's a chance that debris might at least partially block the already miserable flow rate. The drain rate is so slow that all dirt will continually settle in the bilge as mud and will likely never get flushed out of the boat.

I normally LIKE Flow-Rite products, but so far in my opinion this one needs a complete redesign. They need a plug housing that completely backs the plug out of the closed position, but they don't.

It sounds like something is not quite right with yours. Mine drains just as quickly as it did with the stock plug. The plug should almost hang out of the drain hole when fully open. I do remember having to make sure everything was in the correct slot and the cable sitting in the notch correctly.
It sounds like your cable sheath slipped inside the plug a bit.
