Dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water, use a dobie pad. Cleans cork up really nicely. I use it on Kistler and St Croix rods.

This is the way to clean the handles. Do not use alcohol. It will dry the cork.

Disregard all other posts and use a magic eraser. It's like magic!

Re: Cleaning Cork Handles - 05/05/15 02:55 AM

The magic eraser takes off a thin layer of cork too, just a heads up for u guys doing that. And alcohol and bleach/chlorox products will dry the cork til it peels. That's why I use dawn dish soap and warm water. You'll get just as good of a result with less damage or scuffing of the cork.

Wash cloth wet with warm water. Simply apply pressure as you turn the handle in your hand. Takes elbow grease. Makes them look brand new.

If its really stained/grungy you can go over the bad spots lightly with real fine grit sandpaper
