Talk about hanging on by a thread!

Cleaning up some old pictures and came across this one from last summer. This is as close as it gets! The trailer hook was BARELY hooked! I'm surprised the weight of the fish alone didn't cause it to tear free. Anyone have any similar stories?

Cool pic--looks like it grabbed just enough of that thick cartilage in that area.

I caught a 6lb bass last summer in a pond fishing for bluegills. . .with a size 10 hook. The hook never penetrated the fish, it was just wedged in the corner of her mouth. As soon as I lipped her and the line lost tension, it just fell out.

Still, that's one impressive catch with that trailer hook. I'm like you, I can't believe that fish didn't just tear that little bit of skin.

I've never seen a red trailer hook. I'm not sure I like the idea of it. I don't want a fish targeting my trailer hook, but rather the bait or main hook itself. Just a thought...

I had a biggun once that barely got hooked.
