Can't wait to get to this place. 10 years in the making. Simply amazing.

After watching the build video that Dance did, I have already made plans to go this summer, around the FLW Cup in Hot Springs.

I didn't realize that thing was built in 1991.

It's the old convention center that they've redone.

That Bill Dance video was pretty cool. It looks like they spared no expense.

Maybe they will actually have enough light in this one to read the labels and tell what colors the plastics are..

The Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers used to play there. I went to every game with my grandfather (I lived there until I was 15). My family still lives there as well. I moved to San Antonio 6 years ago. Yes it was 10 years in the making, however with the economy the way it is in Memphis, there were serious doubts that it would ever happen and they just thought of tearing it down for bare land. They finally went through with it and fiddled with it for about 5 years and from then on, they went like a house on fire and worked on it relentlessly. I must say I'm rather proud of Memphis for having the largest Bass Pro Shops in America. The one Memphis had previously was in an old Wal Mart and was REALLY small. You could be driving down the interstate and almost miss it. I'm not sure if they're keeping that or what, but they're about 25 minutes apart as the first one is further from downtown and the Pyramid is right in the middle of downtown. Downtown is right on the edge of the Mississippi River and on the other side is Arkansas. It wasn't supposed to open until later in May but they opened it early; yesterday in fact. I'll be going back to Memphis here in a few months and plan on spending some serious cash there. I'll be sure to take pics for you guys.

Tight lines.

I may get bashed for saying this, but I don't think the design of the exterior fits very well with the BPS theme on the inside. I still wanna go cause it looks awesome but I just think the pyramid design looks out of place for an outdoor store. Just my 2cents

With that being said, hope I can talk the wife into making a special trip up there someday.

Let's do it. We can talk chemicals and teeth and write the trip off.

Now that Ron drives a BPS Ranger, we should get some sort of discount. stir

Maybe they will give flashlights at the door so you can find your way around in there. Worst lighting of any store.

BPS didn't build it. The Pyramid was built for Memphis State basketball games and other functions. The Grizzles didn't like the building so another venue, The Forum, was built. The Pyramid sat empty for several years before BPS acquired it and even longer before they built it out. FWIW, Memphis is named after a city in Egypt, that is why the building was built as a Pyramid.

Good to know, I had no idea. I just assumed the pyramid was added to the original building. Thanks.

It'll probably show up on the History Channel as some nefarious plot between The New World Order and the Masons!
