eagle mountain rains - 04/13/15 06:32 PM

A big storm cell dumped a lot of rain there this morning. I drove down to Harbor Inn's launch off of Boat Club Road and water was still rushing in from the creeks hours later. My guess is it will probably gain 2-3 ft or more.
We're hoping.

Hope you're right but so far we are up only 5" from yesterday at this time. Will get a truer reading in another 24 hours.

In front of my place, we don't have water, it looks like a lake of 1/2 coffee and 1/2 cream. Cruddy brown water is going to slow down fishing for a few days.

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/14/15 12:22 AM

This is what I received from them this morning:

Our reservoir manager tells me that if the lake reaches 641.00 -642.00 with a positive outlook we would reconnect the courtesy dock and open the ramp. There is a substantial cost associated with repositioning the dock so we want to make sure we are on a definite upward swing prior to making the move.

I was thinking the same thing, fisherman don't need docks. It will be at 641.00 tomorrow morning

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/14/15 12:59 PM

You would think they are losing more money with the ramp closed than it would cost to reconnect the dock.

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/14/15 02:00 PM

So maybe by the end of the week? It's at 640.5 as of this morning with more forecast rain later this week.....
wait what am I thinking, it'll take them a week to put in the work order and another week to get it hooked up....

What ever happened to Vances Camp off 10 mile bridge?... I take it the low water levels killed it

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/15/15 02:29 PM

Where's Lee in Texas lately? I would have thought he would be here talking about rising water on his home lake. I've been praying for you guys west of me to get enough rain to raise your lake levels. I'm glad to see it happening and hope you are about to get a lot more.

Maybe he's out fishing...

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/20/15 09:08 PM

The website says it was built to be able to launch a 30' boat even if the lake is 12' low. What BS, The lady at the eagle mountain office just told me the level would have to be 642 before they would think about opening the ramp.

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/21/15 12:07 AM

Just checked lakelevels.info and shows EM at 641.29 -7.71 low.
That's pretty close to 642. banana

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/24/15 09:01 PM

Somebody needs to get off their arse over there and make it happen. They knew the the lake was on the rise they've been pumping in water for a month now you'd think they'd had this ready to go by now !

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/24/15 09:15 PM

641.99 and rising right now.

The funny thing is I have never fished Eagle Mountain and will in all likelihood never launch at this ramp, but I've gotten interested in the situation and hope it works out for you guys soon.

It's definitely on the climb the feeder creeks are rolling and there's more coming. With the way it's going now we may be at 4ft low by Monday !

a classic government operation. If it takes some effort,,,,,forget about it. Ain't nobody going to do anything until they are forced.

Re: eagle mountain rains - 04/28/15 05:17 PM

They just posted this on their website..............

Twin Points boat ramp reopens
Posted 4/28/2015

The boat ramp at Twin Points Park has been has been reopened after being closed last fall due to low lake levels. The rainfall over the last week, combined with the district's pumping efforts, have made a significant impact on Eagle Mountain's lake level. The lake is high enough now that we can keep the ramp open most, if not all, of the summer.

There is a $10 launch fee and the ramp is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
