Lake Fork - April report & pics - 04/13/15 01:23 AM
Lake Fork is on fire right now! As I type this we are getting some light rain. The water level now has a bunch of vegetation flooded and the bass are loving it! If you think you are fishing too shallow go even shallower! This last week we had a 9.23 and 8.86 come from behind the flooded grass! If the sun gets higher move out to the first break in 5-8 ft of water and that's where the bigger fish are beding, you may just not see them!
Presentation - The baits that I have mainly been throwing are weightless rattlesnakes, senkos, and flukes in green pumpkin red or watermelon candy! A couple tricks you can do to increase your bites are run a small nail in the head of the bait. This allows you to keep in contact with the bait and help if the wind is blowin. Also some days they want the tail dipped in chartreuse and some days they don't! Obviously the bed fishing is crazy and every major creek has spawning fish in them! Some creeks are more stained so they are just tougher to see! The bait I throw on the beds is a craw in natural color like Cali 420 or black! Also the top water bite is getting good! A pop bait like magic or pop r will get you bit but a frog has been the ticket in either bull frog color or black/yellow!
Hope this helps anyone coming to Lake Fork during the month of April!
Here's a couple of donkeys from the last few days!
