Feedback on Duckett rods appreciated. Looked at some tonight at Acadamys and they really felt good. Price is $99

I have a ghost that turned yellow...i can send it back to the company for a free exchange but i dont feel like it. I might put it up for sale. Its a decent rod. But for the price you may want to look at the 13 omens

I was really close to getting one the other day simple because 13omen is out of stock everywhere and agree the rod feels nice in hand but at academy who had probably 15 ducketts ghost pretty much all of them had quality control issues. From guides being bent reel seats not being inline with first guide and even when you looked down the blank itself the last 12in on a 7ft rod was not even straight. Stuff that a couple years back I would have not even of noticed but its amazing how many flaws rods have in generally. Maybe I'm just picky but I went over to gander right after and they had the micro magic(which I've heard a lot of great things about) looked over 5+ rods and all of them but one had a crooked tip on it. One of them was absolutly perfect but decided to pass on it. Really not trying to completely bash duckett rods but more if you know what your looking at there are a lot of flaws in rods in general.

That's a very good point, how often does the average angler me included, walk into a store pick it up and say this is the rod i want, in the action i want, and just buy it with out really looking at it.
To later down the line go out fishing, and have line wrap around a guide a dozen times or so a day.

We do research and read reviews some written by pro staffers.

That is why we check all of our rods before we sell them. We donot have foot traffic so all of the rods we receive are never handled, dropped, bent etc after we receive them. You can always count on us to receive a grade A rod. Thanks!

I have 3 of the micro magic rods and I like them. I use them mostly for frogs and top waters or moving baits, I have had them for 2 or 3 years with no issues

I have a duckett ghost med 7' and duckett micro magic MH 7". Micro magic is an incredible rod and there is nothing lighter that I have felt so far. The ghost is an avg rod. If you are going to spend 100.00 then you will be much happier spending 150.00 and getting the magic.

I will say I have had no issues with the ghost so far.

I mainly use Falcon, St. Croix & AllStar with no complaints.

I've got a Ghost 7'3 Heavy, and a 7'MH Micro Magic and I love them both. Super sensitive and lots of backbone to horse fish out of cover. As far as issues with guides and reel seat, my rods have no issues what so ever, sorry to hear others have had issues.

Re: Duckett Rods - 04/10/15 11:55 PM

I have a real love/hate relationship with Duckett. Light, sensitive, and affordable. But I literally break 2 or 3 a year. I have broken them swinging fish in the boat, setting the hook on little fish and on big trees. I have one broken now I need to send in. The warranty cost has increased but they have always replaced them for me when I send them in and pay the fee. That being said, I will continue to replace them as I break them but will NEVER buy another new one off the shelf again. I love to fish with them but hate to own them.

A buddy of mine has the ghost rod and really likes it but he says he would much have rather spend a few extra bucks to get the micro magic pro. I myself am actually going to get me a micro magic pro hopefully very soon.

Many other rods in that price range that don't have crappy guides and aren't uder powered.tfo, 13,falcon,Powell for $30 more. All the other ducketts are amazing. I feel they dropped the ball on this one and way over hyped them.everyone will have a differnt opinion so get what's comfortable to you.
