Also list how often you fish it. I know personally I am there probably 75-100 days per year. I am betting my total overs for year will be lower than average.

I've yet to catch an over. Few 23's but no 24's. I'd say I go on average one weekend a month, maybe a little less.

Live 5 minutes from it and don't fish it 10x a year. But have been fishing it since before you were allowed to... never thought to keep count.

Average 2-3 per year and I fish Fork 30-50 days a year.

Most of the overs I have caught have been between May and August and half of those have been at night.

Lil Mustang is filled with overs. Caught 2overs in 3 trips last winter solo fishing with jigs.

Only overs I've caught there in 10+yrs fishing it averaging 5-8 trips a year.

I have also had some mean fish break me off that I never got to see, but Im sure thats the case with most who fish there.

Re: How many overs per year do you catch on Fork? - 10/24/14 07:52 PM

I've spent my fair share of time out here with some success.. and quite a bit of humble pie. But I still love fishing it.. I've caught 3 so far with many, many casts made... None in a tournament, but I still couldn't have been happier each time.

I think the lake felt sorry for me a few days ago and finally gave me one bite late in the day while fishing with a good friend...

We fished from sun up to sundown a few days ago and managed one fish late in the day... But when she touched tat 24" line I forgot all the rest of the fish we left in the lake that day!

Caught 4 this year, none made 10# though. The largest was 9lb 13oz and was lucky enough to catch it in a tournament. Fish it quite a bit.

Got my first over this June in the 5 years I've been fishing Fork. This last year I estimate that I fished around 60 days on Fork. Just like many others have stated I too have had my heart and line broke more than once on some that surely would of qualified.

Re: How many overs per year do you catch on Fork? - 10/25/14 02:44 AM

I work 14/7 schedule and fish it 4/5 days that I'm home. I hate that lake. But to hard headed to give up. As much as I've fished it and the hours spent and casts I've made I should have caught more bass than I have. Maybe one or two a trip if it's a good day. And I have been all over that lake. All the while the fish are biting supposedly lol. I go to pines or holllbrook and catch all I want.

Anyways. Fished hard for the past 4 months now and 0 overs. Two over 23" though. That's about it. I've seen more dead bass floating than I have caught almost Smh. Lol

I have caught 2 one was when over was 21 though. Only been there 6 times. Will be making a couple trips over this next year to fish some deep structure now that I am learning how to fish that way.

I was on Fire last year, Ole Mother Fork gave me a Teenager and several DD and a few more overs that weren't DD's. This year since Jan I have had 3 DD and 4 overs.

I spend about 130 days on the water. Retirements is GREAT - woot

I've been fishing out there about 7-8 years but only fish it about 5 days a year and have been fortunate enough to catch 4 overs in last 3 years including one in a tourney.

None this year. Caught 4 in 2 hours last year and lost a 5th one during that span of action. All was on a spot the size of a swimming pool. It was by far and away my best trip ever to Fork as I had only caught 2-3 overs prior in 20+ years of fishing it. Went back the following weekend and caught 2 more off the same spot. Pure luck and the spot has not produced more than a 4 pounder again. Life was good for a few weeks.

Re: How many overs per year do you catch on Fork? - 10/25/14 11:16 PM

My average of 2-3 per year makes me feel better now. I think I have caught as many as 4 one year but 2-3 seems more the norm. I focus a lot on shallow water so I am sure if I really fished deeper consistently I might 1-2 more per year on the head. Have had an over bed fishing and have had one on a frog. Actually think I had 2 on a frog this year but I did a dumb moved and tried to lift one in the boat by the line. First and last time I have done that.

Over the past 10 years, fishing 15-20 days/year, sometimes a little more, usually one or two/year, almost always in the Spring.

Re: How many overs per year do you catch on Fork? - 10/26/14 10:24 PM

I fished Fork about 10 full days this year. 1 solid over 25.5" that weighed 7 pounds and another two that might have been close if measuring them that were 8 pounders.

The previous two years on Fork think I only had 1 over, the 12, but seemed I had a bunch of 23 3/4" fish. smile

I would like to know how that number of "overs" compare to all of the other lakes that you fish.

I really fish no other slot lakes except Bridgeport and now days not many trips out there. I average more out there but at 18" for an over its a lot easier. I know I catch enough 6-9lb fish at Fork that makes it worth the effort. The overs out there are just a bonus to me.

Re: How many overs per year do you catch on Fork? - 10/27/14 03:03 AM

I was thinking of using the same standard (slot) on comparing the other lakes, how many over 24" do you catch on other lakes you fish. I know for me, it is no comparisson, I bet I catch most all of my 24" and over fish on Fork.

I generally get 2 or 3 a year. Have had 4 this year.

Only other lakes I have caught any over 24" if I recall correctly are Richland Chambers, Tawakoni, and Worth. Then again very few lakes have the big fish population that Fork does so its a wash.

That's a good question. The numbers of 6-9 lb under fish on Fork has always been what has set that lake apart in my opinion. I can't even count the number of 23 3/4-7/8" fish I've been lucky enough to boat the last three years there. I've never fished Falcon though, sure sounds like it can (or could) compete with that group of fish.

Since I bought a boat and got back into fishing 3 years ago after being boatless for 10 years, here's some estimated numbers of >24" fish.

25 days on Fork (1) 25.5" 10.5 lb
10 days on Palestine (1) 25" fish heavy 10 and (1) 24" fish 9ish, same day in January
10 days on Ft. Gibson (1) 26" fish around 7-8 lbs
5 days on Tawakoni (1) 24"ish fish 9 lbs

Looks like for me, Palestine and Tawakoni tie for over 24" fish per day. I think Fork would catch up though if I got to spend more time there.

Only had one over 24" this year and it was just 1/4" over and was very skinny went 9.2 with a 12 lb head. That was on kiowa in june. Probably fished 75 days this year, had several others between 22 1/2 and 24" though. Heaviest for me this year was 9.5lbs 23" sure thought it was a dd. Pics of it are in my sig.

Fished fork for the first time last year, may have spent 8-10 days out there without any overs. Closest was around 22.5" 7lber with multiple other decent slot fish. Determined to get the elusive DD over within the next year. Unfortunately dont own a boat so i wont get too many chances to fish out there

+1 on Ozzy's post, when I was out there 80-100 days a year. Getting one in competition is a bonus for sure, only done that 4-times with the 16-24" slot.

I really don't like the way Fork fishes right now, everything changed in 2011, grass died off(where I like to fish), drought, and damn sandbass..
From 2005-2010 I thought I was in the promised land, I couldn't believe how good it was..jm2c's and I have a house there...
