Town Lake is downtown. Upstream is Lake Austin. Upstream from Lake Austin is Lake Travis.
All seperated by dams.

I will say that if it were me, I'd drag the boat to Travis or Bastrop if you plan on catching numbers and want to have a great time. Lake Austin has some big fish, but don't expect to go there for a 50 fish day.
If you don't use the big motor, you can put in at town lake. Especially at night, town lake is a secret gem. There are a ton of fish there.

We went last Saturday, it is a really nice lake with great scenery, here's a pic of one of the boat ramps.

People catch big ones in Town Lake, but you can't run the big motor.

Well, I guess I better wait for a north east wind before I try to launch?

Just got back from Austin and all I can say is, it beats Falcon. I launched at Quinlan, it's free, nice ramp. Fished mainly natural shore line, throw green pumpkin anything and you'll get bit. Fished last Tues. with Ryan Wags, boated 40 fish with a 10, 8, 6, mixed in bunch of 3&4's. Went Wed. by myself and had at least 15 by 2pm. Came back this week from Falcon, and had 35 or so for 2 days. I luv the feeling of a tight line. I'll be back, but not on the week-end, those people are crazy, pleasure boats pick up after 1or 2pm.

If you stay out until 1 pm, especially in the summer, you're begging for punishment. 10 am it's getting bad. 11 sucks and I'm headed for ramp. At 12, the ramp is a nightmare. At 1, it's just plain stupid on that lake.

Enjoy this grassless lake while it last for another year or less. Looking forward to the death of it.

I love Lake Austin but this time of year, the ski boats will punish you as early as 10AM.
