I was sure hoping you guys would get a dose of the rain SE OK got this morning. The 3-5"+ that fell in OK would've done wonders.
I know I'd sure like to see Fork full the next trip down!

Is it just me, or does it seem like even with a really good rain, Fork just doesn't come up that much? And even when it does go up a few inches, it loses it almost immediately. We've had quite a bit of rain in May, but even after yesterday, the lake is 1" above where it started the month.
It just seems like at this rate, we may have to start considering 399' full pool. I don't claim to know everything. This is just an observation.

Everyone says that, but if you'll look at this graph:

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/tx/nwis/uv?cb_...ite_no=08018800[/img]
you can see that there's no conspiracy with the SRA letting water out. It looks like normal draw-down to me. Fork just doesn't come up very quickly due to no major river feeding it.
We got 3.1" at Wolf Creek!
I have been monitoring the water flow at the Lake Fork dam for several years now via the SRA website. Back when the lake was last full (2010), the SRA was routinely pulling only 3 to 5 cfs from the lake. However, since June 2011, they have been pulling ten times that amount (30 to 50 cfs, and at times, much more) from the dam. Rumor was that Dallas was selling water downstream to keep the Toledo Bend power generation going. The current draw is 30.5 cfs. This translates to just under 20 million gallons per day. The other observation I have made over the past couple of years is that Lake Fork Creek at the bridge South of Quitman has been consistently running fairly full. During a drought as bad as we had in 2011, you would expect this creek to have been carrying very little if any water. I wouldn't judge this as a conspiracy, but it helps explain why Lake Fork continues to stay low.

Russ, is this the water that we see coming out of the dam at all times?

Re: Lake Fork Rain - 05/22/13 02:19 PM
On 5-15 it was at 398.26
Today it is 398.62. it is up 4.32 inches in the last 7 days. The only thing that will get it at full pool is a hurricane that stalls out over E. Texas.
