Spent all my money on a boat and...

Spent all my money on a boat and... - 03/04/13 03:28 AM

all of my rods got stolen! I am so unbelievably livid right now. I'm anxious to get fishing again but need some cheap rod alternatives right now. I have a fair amount of spare reels, but I need all new rods. Which rods, if any, are any good in the 50 dollar price range? Don't have much money to spend right now.

Those old tried and true Lightning Rods are about 30 bucks or so. They feel like they have a lead core when compared to a nice St Croix or some other graphite rod but if you're strong enough to use them they'll catch plenty of fish.

If you get up this way {DFW} PM me or EOB, we can probably get with Trickster and some others to get you a few rods to get back home with.

The Daiwa Laguna rods should help out from Academy. Pretty good rods for the money.

For sure... We could get some rods together from all of us and see if the TFF express is running to Austin or put them together and ship them if he's not coming up for a while. I might know a guy running down to Austin next week if we could get it together.

If your local Academy has any left, last time I checked they had Falcon Originals and Falcon Lowriders around 30 bucks. thats one heck of a deal for those rods. They weren't marked on sale, just take them to a price scanner and check.

Did your insurance cover the loss? Many boat policies have clauses for fishing equipment...

Well they were actually in my truck. I hadn't had a chance to even put them in the boat yet. Damn thieves somehow got into my bed cover.

I would think homeowners insurance would cover a theft from your truck, including what the replacement cost for line, lures, rod/ reel covers, et al.

Stupid theives try to ruin live of hard working people. I hope they get caught and live in jail for a long while.

Anyways, I second the Daiwa T Rods. Also look through Ebay and even craigslist, you might find some nice rods for cheap, never know.
