Special Carolina rig weights - 12/31/23 03:33 PM
I went to a fishing show years ago and found a vendor making line through jig heads for Carolina rigs. I can’t remember the name of them and I’d like to order more if anyone can help direct me to something like this. They did various size weights and hooks. I’ll take a pic of the one I have left next time I’m at the boat. TIA

Jewel Baits makes a line through football weight, maybe that is the one you are thinking of? Available at Tackle Warehouse.

Never mind. I misread your question. I thought you were asking about a bullet weight that you can add a skirt on it.
Is it these?
https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lindy_No-Snagg_Slip_Sinker_2pk/descpage-LNSS.htmlAre you asking about an actual jig with a line through design on it? I remember seeing those many years ago. It was an actual jig but designed to be used as a Carolina rig weight. Haven't seen those in many years. I never tried one back then.

At 7 bucks a piece that is a "no" to me. I have two of these in my weight box from the 90's and they rattle as well. But, mine are a skosh too light. I can't justify that much money for a weight, I'm just too cheap. However, they do work and I can say they didn't get hung up as much as a egg sinker.

3/4 to 1oz bullet weight on Carolina Rig always seemed to work good. I always liked lead. I had fished it so much I could catch them better on it. 20# mono main line, 15# mono leader. Vary leader length from 18” to 5ft.

Yes, it is an actual jig with the line through designed created specifically for carolina rig weight. Used as a second bait usually smaller bait like a craw or finesse worm. I think I got them at a smaller regional tackle show in VA before I moved, and it was a smaller mom and pop company that may not even be in business anymore. I'll update with pics of the last one I have left.

I’ve seen them, never used any but have thrown a football jig as a Carolina weight before. Gives you two baits in the water but it never worked better than a regular Carolina rig for me.

A long time ago Riverside made skirted bass jigs that were line thru. I used them successfully at Fork in the early 2000's
Another option is to use a very small swivel tied on behind a 3/4 oz jig with a leader to your hook. The tiny Spro #10 is rated at 30# and works well

I’m looking for more of these, I’ve been searching online and can’t find anything.

Have you had luck with these things? Obviously
I’ve fished a drop shot / shakey head combo and was surprised to catch more off the weight (or shakey head)
Never thought to run a jig / crig type setup
