He stated he was going to a lake that he has never been to in order to show how to break down a lake. He says he is on Tyler and shows the map of Tyler and says he is on a specific point on Lake Tyler. He then shows himself catching some very good fish. It is very obvious if you know Lake Tyler that he is not there. It is also obvious if you know Murvaul that he is on Murvaul. I wonder if he had fished Murvaul before. If so not only did he lie about the lake. but he also discounted the entire premise of the video.

I understand that he is likely trying to protect Lake Murvaul to try to keep it from getting hammered. However, he could have easily showed the map of Tyler to explain how he will approach another lake to break the other lake down and maintained his honesty.

Once people see you lie once, they never know when you are telling the truth.

I knew it didn't look like Tyler East or West because there were no wake boats going by at 10 mph creating the 3-4 foot swell. Just fished Tyler East last Sunday and the recreational traffic (wake boats, jet skis, barges, etc.) started at 7:30 in the morning. I wouldn't care if he was catching 12 lbrs, I won't be going back to that lake for a while. I enjoy his videos regardless. That dude is a Hammer!

I wonder what Lake Tyler local made him mad enought to say he was at Tyler. Especially since he never says what lake he is on unless its an Opens tournament pre-fishing video.

Years back Belichick got fined for videoing opposing coaches signals. He got a $500,000 fine. From there after he tried to stay in other teams heads. he said it took them off there game. Millken does the same thing. But he doesn't just try, he excels at it. He is constantly getting his name out there. I was just checking the updates of the Bassmaster open on Eufaula. He was in 8th or 9th place yesterday. But basstrack had nothing on him yesterday or today. He is staying under the radar but yet getting in guys heads because they have no clue what weight he has. Others have said this before, he is playing the marketing game at a higher level then most. I just wish 1 person would tell me what he has done or said that is so bad. I do not know him. I've actually never watched a video of him. I did say lets give him some time to prove how good he is. This is the 5th event of the year and Millken is in 9th place in points. He has a 5th,1st, 62nd and 64th place finish in the 4 previous. And was in 8th or 9th yesterday. Some would say he is feast or famine. But 9th place in points says the man can fish. All the while while racking up viewings on his sites.

I don't even get on youtube, but I scrolled across one of his videos one time on facebook where he was making fun of one of my old timer customers. Just a good ole local dude. Really really nice guy, so it really rubbed me the wrong way. I know he's just trying to make a living on the internet, but I found it disrespectful. He was mocking him and playing dumb and my ole customer was just trying to help/chat from what I could see.

I have noticed many lakes he has fished, that he never identifies. And I know he got allot of grief about Ivie, but he wasn't the one who let the cat out of the bag on Ivie. Almost 99.9% sure it was TPWD who spilled the beans. And I would say he isn't about to start doing it. It's an informative breakdown on how he locates fish, I wouldn't overthink it. Either your a MF fan, or your not. If you are looking for something to bring someone down, you will always try something. No offense, and I am not saying the person who started the thread is doing this. I'm casting no stone here, so I am sorry if it sounds like this. I really am excited to see him do well this year, and pray the Good Lord watches over him and all the others who are following their dream "Fishing". I would absolutely love to see Ben win a classic someday. He is on a Cinderella story path, and I hope it comes to fruition.

This! I have seen him fishing most of the lakes around this area (Nac, Gilmer, Pinkston, etc.....) and pounding the fish. You do not have to go to the lake he is fishing to use what he is showing you, it is ridiculous that people have to go where someone shows them exactly where to fish. Take note of what he is doing and adapt it to the lake you are fishing, he fishes what any structure fisherman has always fished.

I am ambivalent towards him, tbh. Don't hate or dislike him, but I do not care for all the clickbait vids he does, or any angler really. He's a talent for sure and I wish him well, but just not a fanboy.

Re OH Ivie, watched an interview recently where he discussed it - they were coming down to Conroe to do some video's with a sponsor or somthing along those lines, they wanted to stop at some lakes on the way down, but it was during stormageddon and most marinas gas stations, stores, etc were closed. Wound up at OHI by chance really, and they of course lit them up. Caught a 16, called marina guy who had a scale, then called TPW/Sharelunker who said we can't come to you due to weather, but if you bring it to us that would be fine - so they did, which was pretty cool of them as it was about 3 hours out of thier way. Anyway they took the fish to TPW, then went to on Conroe, and told no one. A couple days later after finishing up at Conroe they rushed back to OHI and it was wall to wall boats. Apprently it was either TPW or the Marina as someone above mentioned who put it on blast.

Yea, I remember years ago where Roland Martin was promoting a new rod that he said was the most sensitive he has ever used. It had a weighted system at the back of the rod where you could remove the butt of the rod and add weights to make it more balanced and he said that made it more sensitive. I thought well he has been fishing for many years and must have used a lot of different brands of rods over the years so he must know what he is talking about, so I bought one. It was the most non sensitive rod that I have ever used even with braided line. It was then that I realized that he was lying about the rod and how sensitive it was because they were his new sponsor. Lying in the fishing industry is nothing new. It happens all the time and it goes all the way back to the Rolland Martin. era. I took it back after two weeks of testing it out because it was JUNK. Nothing like Roland said it was. I never listened to anything he ever said after that.

It seems that way back then when Rolland Martin was popular he learned that if he lied about a product, that would increase his sponsorship, and that is what he did. Its not about the truth, its all about the money.

I'm in the middle here as well. I think the guy is a great angler and puts out good content. My only beef is he has been dishonest with misleading video titles advertising. This is just another example. The guy has the talent that he doesn't need to be dishonest. In this case was it a mistake? While I'm not crazy about the click bait video descriptions and titles, I hope he makes it to the elites.

I'm not mad. I just think its shady for a guy to claim he showed up on an unknown body of water (show a topo map and weather conditions for said body of water) and claim to catch a 30+ bag in under 4 hours while he's actually on a community hole 50 miles away......

The guy can straight up fish. It does not matter what lake he was on. You can use what he showed on any lake. A 30 pound bag in 4 hours is insane on any lake. Just let the guy fish. He has already proven he can catch fish on different lakes. Take the info he shared and use it on other lakes. Bill Dance fished private lakes all the time. he was just showing you how to get the fish to bite with certain baits and techique.

I like watching his videos however if he's not on Lake Tyler but another lake then how can I be sure he caught 30lbs in 4 hours? The video editing could have been done over a full day or few days but he just has to say it was over a 4 hour period... Once you start a fib it opens up a rabbit hole to go down...

You are right. This is precisely why I don't interject my opinion into anything other than work/fixing boat related topics, because of replies like this. The only reason I even bother having social media is for work. However since I'm here, I'll just say that you may be right. I wasn't there, didn't pay enough attention to the video to see exactly what happened, but I do know Naconiche is a very small lake. That spot is a community hole, and it appeared that he came to within casting distance upon them striking up a conversation about Livescope, at which point milliken was mocking him and playing dumb. It appeared Mike trolled over to attempt to show him how his setup worked, too old and blind to see that Milliken already had one. Did he get too close? Maybe he did. Could milliken have politely asked for some space? That's what I'd have done. Situations like this really just make me sad. My personal view is that generation had it tougher than we ever did, and guys like Mike are the best ones to listen to stories while you drink coffee at the gas station, the ones who pull paper pictures of bass out to show you old catches, and the ones who'd give you every worm in their boat if you asked for them. But again... am I right? Perhaps not. Maybe Mike ran his boat into milliken for all I know. My final thought is just simply that regardless of a situation on the water, I just personally didn't think Milliken showed Mike any shred of courtesy, albeit maybe in a bad situation that Mike put himself into, but rather seized an opportunity to make a "funny" video poking fun at an old man who quite literally fishes that lake 6 days a week, and has for the 5 years I've known him. He's like the old man riding the dirt road checking his fence for cows as far as Naconiche goes. Everyone knows him, he's out there everyday, and he's always checking everybody out, seeing what's going on. Who knows, maybe Mike deserved it, but based on what I remember seeing and everything I know about Mike, I would wager a good bit that he did not. But what do I know.
