Which Ultrex?

Which Ultrex? - 08/07/18 03:31 AM

Well I’m about to finally make the purchase and get an Ultrex and I’m trying to decide between the 24v/80lbs or the 36v/112lbs I know that I will have to add a battery and a four bank charger if I go with the 36v. My boat is a 19’ nitro what would y’all recommend? Would it be worth the extras to go to the 36v?

It depends on how much, how long, and often you fish. I personally would lean towards 24v on that boat and say make sure you have good, large group 31 deep cycles for trolling and you’ll be fine. Even for tournament use in the wind. Now, if you’re a heavy and fast troller all day long... maybe 36v. But in most cases on that boat, I would say 24v is plenty and cost effective.

My 24v Xi5 does great on my 18.5' Nitro and holds in pretty strong winds. Unless you are going out in a lot of wind after sand bass/hybrids etc. I would stay with a 24v, I would not want the weight and cost of another battery in the back. If you tend to troll a lot with the electric then a 36v would probably be best.

More is always better than not enough but that 19 footer should be just fine with an 80lb 24v troller! Wasn't that many years ago that 24v was all we had....and plenty!

80/24v will be plenty. I've never come close to running my Walmart batteries down even in 15mph winds.
