Re: What is your favorite TX RIG rod, GO!! - 07/25/18 07:18 PM

For me, it depends on a lot of things. First and foremost, it depends on what lake I'm fishing, then it has a lot to do with the color of worm I'm using at the time. There's nothing worse than having a 8" Zoom pumpkin mag on the pole I use for 8" Zoom red cajun mags. Don't get me started on which hook I use for which pole. That deserves a topic all its own.

Day in and day out I reach for a Megabass Oriochi XX Perfect Pitch. Lighter work I use the MB XX Diablo Spec R. Got the new MB XX Braillist in as well but need to get more hours on it to get a better range of what it does etc.

I use a G. Loomis IMX 843. For a little cheaper alternative a 7ft MH Falcon Cara is a good choice.

I've got to say you're one helluva fisherman, Sinkey. Anyone who can smoke 'em on a Falcon Cara has mad skills. I have a very hard time feeling light bites on those rods. Now the Mike McClelland Signature Series flipping stick is sensitive as all get out.

All 4 of my 7'2s are the McClelland series Cara's. I have 2 others that are the Reaction Series Cara's. But pretty much use those for traps, chatterbaits, etc. The Reaction's don't seem to be quiet as sensitive though.

Re: What is your favorite TX RIG rod, GO!! - 07/25/18 09:07 PM

Question: I fish all my bottom contact baits with my left index finger under the line in front of my reel. Is there a rod that is more sensitive to bites than my finger? I don't own any of the high end rods. I'm just curious if it would make a big difference when I'm already in constant line contact with my finger?

7'6" Ducket Micro Magic Pro

Coincidentally or not, also happen to be the most expensive rod I own. So don't have much to compare them against.

Hard to say. I don't touch the line when I'm fishing. I will tell you this tho, any Loomis rod from the GLX up transmits the lightest of bites on a line with a lot of belly in it from the wind right to the reel seat.

Sinkey would win the contest on who uses the longest C-rig leader! I've seen him coil up six feet up line on the back deck then get a running start to the front deck and sling it out! roflmao

I am surprised those two WR-1's haven't exploded into three pieces on the hookset. thumb

I was the All Star rod rep for NTX for five years and I replaced about 90% of all the WR-1's I sold. I broke two in one day pitching a jig at Fork on fish and this is before braided line!

I may look into the Winn Grips. But I still love my platnium series rods. With the re-coil eyes added I don’t worry about breaking eyes anymore.

Houston made All Stars is all I fish with. I have acquired bout 40 over the years and they still fish better than any other I’ve tried.

Best worm rod. 6’10”, Fast MH Titanium All Star. You can feel a fly land on the tip.

No problems here. I also have a WR2 that I will never let go. I heard Morgan McCain speak at a show a while back & he swears his C843MH is just a newer WR1.

It was actually closer to 7 feet! roflmao It got a lot of bites, no doubt, but I went back to a shorter one when I throw it. I really don't throw a C-rig as much on Fork anymore........found something way more productive! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
