Another night fishing question

Another night fishing question - 07/24/18 01:19 AM

For those that have gone be recently, how much success have you had? Last time I went to pool I saw no activity and caught none. Went to Fork last week and spent 2 nights there fishing. Saw bass on the lights and threw the kitchen sink at them and couldn’t get one to bite. Tried a few other places with no luck.

I’m not sure if it is just the heat or what but it’s been really slow even at night. I’m thinking of heading back out tonight and try either Pool or Grapevine but not sure if it is even worth the trouble.

I haven't gone and stayed all night, but I have had luck right at dusk until about 9:45 or 10:00 PM. Topwater right at dusk has been a BIG producer of bass, not much big fish, but a lot of smaller fish, at least on Alan Henry. Been a wile since I have fished DFW lakes at night, but used to do pretty well on Lake Lewisville. Wish I could help more. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Don't know about Pool but Grapevine is very good at night. Throw dark colored power worms, jigs, and creature baits around dock lights. Black spinner baits work good slow rolled around rocky points and the dam. Don't be afraid to throw your lures into 6 inches of water the fish will surprise you how shallow they can get at night. If there is a full moon you can fish the shady side of docks (sounds funny for night time to fish shady side but it is a good ambush spot). Lewisville is still a very good night fishing lake. The Gainesville bass club has a tourney out there every year and takes about 18 to 28 lbs to win. hope this helps.

Had an all nighter on Grand Saturday (8pm-8am)and we had 17.78 on 4 fish. We caught 11-12 keepers and all but one was 3.5+ lbs. Bites definitely came in spurts. Got into flurries from 8-9pm and then again around 11pm. Then caught 2 back to back about 6:30am. Fishing points about 8-10' deep with deep water really close by.

We stayed on one spot and I feel like they were just moving up as we were fishing there. Had to fizz one of them so that tells me she came from that deep water

Thanks everyone. I didn't make it out last night but think that I am about to head out tonight. I'm almost off my vaction and this could be my last chance for a while. I've never gone to Grapevine at night, in fact only been there about 3 times before. Pool has bee n so slow for me and the thought of all the docks at Grapevine is making me think about heading there to try it.

Fished Joe Pool two weekends ago on a Sat night 9pm till 4am Sunday - One small bass at 2:20 am on a chatter bait. Threw everything we had at them no bite to speak of..Fished shallow and deep. Fished the same areas the weekend before during first light and caught them pretty good for the first 2 hours. Go figure?

Last year on Roberts during the full moon in July, we fished a deep spot 20’ plus that had an old house foundation near by with two main creeks near by and we had a blast. Shallow water by deep water was the key then. We used jigs and tx rigs. Caught a ton of fish and our thumbs were raw.
