All I can say is there is a time and a place for the wacky rig, and if its not in your aresenal then you’re behind the curve.

Re: am I the only one? - 05/17/18 08:34 PM

I'd rather fish a rubber worm under a bobber.

Re: am I the only one? - 05/17/18 08:50 PM

Its too darn slow to consider a fishing method to me, but I do it once in a while and it almost always works.

fyi no o rings, buy some electrical shrink tubing and slip it over the worm then put the hook thru it just on the edge now your hook is facing the right way AND your worms will last darn near forever...

LOL....
If you've fished competition on Fork, and I was there too, I'd bet I took some of your money doing it... nuts

It's absolutely deadly when the fish are shallow, they can't stand that thing whip'n around.

All 9 fish I caught last Wednesday were on a wacky rig. Trying to figure out a fast way to fish it in deep water, maybe with a C-rig.

Re: am I the only one? - 05/17/18 09:25 PM

when wacky first came out , I couldn't see why/how bass would want it . Once I tried it , I couldn't put it down . I fish it all year , all depths . I will fish it as deep as 40 feet without a weight and at times it's the only way I get them .
Two years ago , my son was fishing with me and complaining that "only little" bass will eat a Senko that is wacky rigged in shallow water . Well , it was July , it was hot , the water was dirty ---- and after I landed an 11.2lber , on a spinning rig with 10lb test --I proved my point .
Like it or not , wacky rigging works

Try it on a drop shot, of course you have to pick suitable battle grounds. There are lots of long semi slick points on Fork that hold fish

OK. I'm willing to try it. Do you use a weight or not and if so what size?

I went out on Ray Hubbard Wed. morning and caught 8 on a Yum Dinger. Will I catch more on a wacky rig?

Wish I had the patience.....

Had my best day on Lake Waco ( a lake that really hates me) with the wacky rig.
Green pumpkin or Junebug on stained water.
Sweet Tater on clear water like Stillhouse.

Also really good to skip up in docks.

No way. Heck I barely ever fish plastic. Maybe 5% of the time.

No weight but I do stick about a 1" nail in the head of the 5" Ocho.

Already got one rigged up Billy. Thought about dragging one up the sides of the points with a C-rig too. I think the weightless wacky rig would do some magic tricks on a 2-3' leader of a C-rig. Won't hurt to try.

Re: am I the only one? - 05/18/18 03:14 AM

Didn’t fish it much till I was fishing with a friend and his wife. After I watched them both catch 10+ fish each while I scratched out four or five with swimbaits and traps I was convinced. Now I almost always have one wacky rig tied on all the time.

Yep. I used it to fill out a limit tonight. It was the difference between money and no money tonight.

If they won’t eat a whacky rig, they’re not biting! thumb
