Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/09/18 12:55 PM

I couldn’t find anything within the last year on this. Does anyone know if a card was ever made to work with Garmin units? Thanks

Get with Slade Dougharty. I am almost positive that he has them

I believe Garmin takes GPX ( I might be worng) and you can convert them from bird. Go on the BBC garmin board to confirm

GPS Babel is your friend. I converted them to Amy RayMarine from the Lowrance I had before. Garmin conversion should be effective as well.

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/09/18 02:55 PM

Garmin unit software supports GPX, but does not support GPX track-segmentation.

So Boatlanes is not supported or displayed correctly on Garmin units. GpsLakeMaps is also not supported.

I would recommend you contact Garmin about fully supporting GPX. Garmin has know of this issue since Garmin units came out.

I have them on all 3 of my garmin units. Just convert the Lowrance files to gpx.

Well I hope all the Garmin users who are reading this thread call Garmin Support about fixing GPX.

Do they show up as a track?

Shows up as waypoints and my track saves as I drive.

My LOP chip uploaded as waypoints and tracks.

Cool. Looks like I need to pick up a Lowrance chip then.

Unless Garmin has updated their unit software Boatlane's tracks will not display properly.
For example, Lake o' the Pines will display something like this Google Earth image. Notice how the track-end-points are incorrectly connected:

Lake o' the Pines should display like this:

The LOP chip is awesome. It shows the river from 259 to the dam.

Is that the Lance Vick Boat lanes chip?

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/12/18 07:40 PM

See my post with Google Earth examples.

The current Fork, Rayburn & LOP Vick Boatlanes track versions WILL NOT WORK properly because of the Garmin software on the Garmin units.
Toledo Bend Boatlane tracks might work on Garmin.

I'm going to guess Beast from the East has the old waypoint-only versions, except LOP. I've PM'ed him to discuss what he's seeing on his LOP, but have not heard back.

Two weeks ago, I imported a Boatlanes on a BassPro Garmin 93 series unit.
It imported the GPX fine, but tracks do not display due to Garmin's software. Todd Driscoll who has Garmins also has tested for me.

TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, Garmin does not display the current versions of Boatlanes correctly.

You will have to press Garmin to fix.

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/14/18 02:19 PM

the 93 can do adm ang gpx humminbird does gpx but it doesnt display correctly . the guy at the marina said they do, but the lady said no. i too am working in it

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/14/18 02:55 PM

Garmin doesn't display correct.
HumminbirdPC doesn't display correct with Google Earth.

Hummingbird displays correct.
Lowrance displays correct.

HumminbirdPC has display problem, Humminbird units display fine.

I'll check out a Garmin workaround and will get back.

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/14/18 05:10 PM

LittleGazoo has it right that Garmin does not currently support track segmentation. This is why the track end points are connected when importing into Garmin. However, the work-around is to use Garmin HomePort (free download) and the track Divide tool. Here, you are simply dividing the erroneous, end-point connected portions of the track into separate tracks in HomePort. Once a separate track, then these end-point segments can be deleted.

HomePort

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/14/18 10:47 PM

Built a Garmin version.
This will be the complete Fork Boatlanes in a Garmin version.
22 tracks & 27 waypoints. As opposed to HB and Lowrance having 1 track & 27 waypoints.

Todd's going to run a Garmin test. Tracks and waypoint icons have to be verified.

Then I will send it to Lance & Lori Vick.

Awesome!

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/15/18 08:21 PM

Ok.
Sent Lori Vick email with Garmin versions of Fork, Rayburn, Toledo Bend and Lake o' the Pines.

You'll need to give Boatlanes a little time to process them.

ZIP should contain GPX and GDB file versions created out of Homeport.

A lot of thanks to Todd Driscoll for his time testing Fork.

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/16/18 03:06 AM

Great news. Thanks for the work. Can’t wait to get it.

Re: Fork Boat Lanes for Garmin - 05/16/18 04:16 PM

Just considering this a workaround until Garmin units support track-segmentation.

Garmin users need to be aware that the unit's maximum number of tracks is 50 tracks.

Fork has 22 tracks.
LOP has 18 tracks.
Rayburn has 16 tracks.
Toledo Bend has 1 track(one track-segment).

Note:
Homeport's GPX support includes a GPX-extension for track color(default dark-gray) which I set to black. Therefore if you import and export GPX, then the track color might be persistent. I don't know about GDB.

A guide on Palestine has a Lake chip card for Palestine. Would the guide have made the lake chip map? Just wondering.
