Preferred Hook For Super Fluke? - 04/29/18 05:22 PM
Looking for a strong hook to use on super flukes when fishing it weightless/weedless. Private ponds I fish do have large bass (8-10+). Prefer heavy wire hook like Owner or similar heavy duty hook - but not sure on which style/size. Would a Gamakatsu Superline Extra Wide Gap 3/0 be good? Also thought about an Owner Wide Gap Plus hook or Owner Rig N hook but not sure what size would work best. Want sufficient hooking space when fluke slides down on hook. Will be fishing around brush, logs, weeds.
Thanks1

Hard to beat a 4/0 wide gap plus. About as strong a hook as you'll find and not too long to impact the action of the superfluke

5/0 Trokar EWG Superline.
Edit.....the superline thick gauge hook works like a small belly weight and keel.

I prefer the 4/0-5/0 Gammy deep throat, it's not a heavy wire hook what your asking about but I have never had a problem on big fish straightening them

Owner J hook 4/0 and add a 3/32 oz drop shot weight on the hook kinda like the picture of the hook above. I have tried several different wide gap hooks including screw lock style hooks and like the Owner J hook the best.
