I priced it once fivebites about 3 years ago for a 150 Merc. and parts and labor was around $1100. May be more for a 225, don't know. My Skeeter has Sea Star hydraulic steering and man is it nice. If you need a referral for a place to take it I highly recommend Rockwall Marine, most honest and professional folks I've ever done business with. Good luck and hope you get it done.

I have a 1996 Champion 189 I installed Hydraulic steering on it 2 yrs ago (sea star) I bought the whole thing from Amazon. Best money you can spend on an older boat IMO. it steers like my pickup and there is no fighting the torque of the motor.
