Smallmouth on GVine

Well, I didn't expect this. I fished Grapevine and landed my first ever smallmouth. She was 20.25" long and weighed exactly 4lbs. She was caught in 6 feet of water on a chatterbait. I caught a few largemouth as well and all fish came off areas where wood and rock structure came together. The water was muddy and there is a lot of trash in the lake from the flooding. Water temps for me ranged from 54 - 59.4 degrees (all on the mid to lower end of the lake).

I was fishing solo so the picture quality isn't very good.

Record I think is 4.9 and like 23”... nice fish man, I’ve had the pleasure of catching a few of those out there as well.. great tournament fish out there !

If your phone has a selfie camera you can use it and see how your picture will turn out before you take it, also use the verbal feature to take the picture if your phone has it.

Thanks guys! I was pumped when I got the fish in the boat. Unfortunately, it wasn't a lake record but a trophy to me nonetheless. I think the lake record is 4.95 pounds. I actually caught this fish on Friday afternoon. With the sun high in the sky all the fish I caught were up tight to cover. I can't wait to hit up Grapevine again. It will have to wait though as I'm going to Lake Murvaul this weekend with the family. Hopefully I'll have some pictures from that trip to share with you all.
