Went last weekend an got skunked!! Tournament on the 17th any tips/recommendations?? Really liking Eisenhower/ Grndpappy side of the lake this past year.. tried everything last weekend and even spotted a couple bass up shallow but they were locked up..

Remember... that south end clear water takes forever to warm up and can be unfishable in a big north wind. We fish that end of the lake for smallies this time of year, but pretty rare for smallmouth to win any tournaments out there unless your last name is Burns or Evers.

Yeah I’m not over there just for smallies. Caught some nice large over there this past year.. just grew up on cedar mills side of lake an been venturing off learning more of the lake..

Stained water warms up faster so that’s what I focus on this time of year.

Was out there this past Friday and same thing. 48-49 degree water, post cold front, high skies, no wind. Made for a really tough day. Did notice a LOT of cormorants and pelicans though, so I guess somebody found 'em.

I'm sorry....The wildlife refuge I was talking about is Hagerman National. That's some great late winter/early spring fishing.
The Washita River takes you up there but there's no entrance to the wildlife area unless you bank your boat and walk. Don't think tournaments allow that.

I'm sorry....The wildlife refuge I was talking about is Hagerman National. That's some great late winter/early spring fishing.
Don't get caught in there right now. It's closed to boats.

The floods a couple years back changed a lot of things.
