My Sharelunker looks nothing like my actual fish. My replica is 24-25" and the real fish was 27". Maybe they do a better job with individual mounts
The one they did for the Ray Roberts record isn't remotely close in size or color.
I agree, replicas are just that and guys that do them have ready made models but do get them as close as possible. My mount was the actual fish and I would have had a replica too but the fish died in the aquarium at Lunker Lodge.
There are guys that are"fish painters" They buy ready made "replica blanks" and just paint them(some good, some bad). Then there are only a handful of guys who actually mold the fish, cast a replica from the mold and finish it out. That said there is a wide range of talent from guys that should keep their day job to extremely detailed artists that recreated every detail from a clients photos. I take great pride in the details, I also capture accurate measurements and profile as well.
If you take notice from my previous pictures very few of my fish look like each other. Why? Because the clients fish was the reference for each custom mount.Given the amount of bass I get every year from Texas, Enough people like my "style" To keep me extremely busy. I always say :Shop by sight not by price and/or convenience. You will be reminded of your decision every time you walk by your mount.
