Tarter sauce recipes? - 06/11/17 03:27 PM

Someone gave me a good recipe on here years ago and I can't find it back. It called for capers. Anyone have it? Or got another good one? Thanks

Chopped purple onions, Heinz sweet pickle relish, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, 1/2 and 1/2 Mayo and Miracle whip. Lemon juice at the end. I never measure anything. Sometimes I had a little SlapYoMama.

Mayo, lemon juice, fine diced dill pickle, sweet pickle and onion. Add a splash of Tabasco. You can add a little fresh chopped parsley if you want. Done.

Mayo, dill relish, sweet relish, onion. That is it. Sold tons of fish with this stuff.

Only thing I can add to any of the above recipes is... add a couple shakes of Tony C's creole seasoning.

Chupacabra Rub? Do you have to catch your own and dry it then grind it? Or can you buy it behind some small village after dark in the deep jungle?

I want some of that...just for the label if nothing else...

I love capers in my tartar sauce too. This is the recipe I make. It's delicious and I don't just use it for fish. It's good on hamburgers, hot dogs etc.

1 small shallot or onion, whichever you prefer
6 cornichons (gherkins)
1 tablespoon capers
1 cup mayo
Bunch flat leaf parsley--sometimes I leave this out, personal preference. smile
juice of one lemon
2 Tbsp sour cream
2 tsp mustard
1 Tbsp dill weed
salt & pepper

***** Please note, when making this, taste as you go along. You may wish to add more of lemon, mustard, dill, salt etc according to your taste.

WE love to make the Tomatilla Tartar Sauce

1/2 lb. Tomatillos (8-10)
1 Cup Mayonnaise
2tsp. fresh lime juice
2 jalopeno peppers, seeded and minced (we use 1)
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt

1) Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse well, finely chop to make 1 cup ( I like to make sure the tomatillos have time to drain so the tartar sauce won't be so runny.)
2) Stir together tomatillos, mayo, lime juice, jalopeno, cilantro, cumin and salt.
3) Chill and serve

Every fish fry we are asked to make this!

Mine is similar to this and people love it. I can't stand sweet tartar sauce.

1 cup mayo
2 TBS minced fresh onion
2 TBS diced dill pickle
1 TBS dill pickle juice
1 teaspoon of yellow mustard (more or less) for color
1 teaspoon horseradish
fresh ground black pepper to taste
a few sprinkles of paprika for color
