Slow Cooking an Elephant ?

Slow Cooking an Elephant ? - 03/02/15 01:25 AM

A few questions come to mind before I tackle this big job.
Would you brine the elephant first ?
Would you quarter the elephant for easy handling ?
Could you make chicharones out of the skin ?
I was thinking of injecting it with flavor.
Thanks for your input.

Brine it in the ocean.
No cook it whole.
No the fat in the skin will baste the meat.
Yes but you will need a giant needle.
Cook it in the ground wrap it in elephant ear (the plant).
And use ancient red wood in the pit to give it that jail house flavor all the other inmates will talk about for the rest of your life sentence. ..

start with a small elephant. if it goes bad, you won't waste too much meat.

Maybe Bobby Flay could have an Elephant Throwdown.
It could be a secret ingredient on Chopped, that would be a big basket !

Do not ask me how I know,
As stated above get some very fresh "Elephant Ear" Tabs,( that what the leaf is called in the horticulture community). Best place if U close to Dallas is the Arboretum, they have a section just for cooking aficionados. I think the Tabs are sold by the ounce. If you can Brine the entire pachyderm for 60 - 72 hours it will be very tender and tasty. Then place on grill best size is 120 in X 144 in. coals about 36 -72 inches below meat. use one those re-mote sensors for temp, actually you will need about 10 of the units to place around for even temp readings. I gotta get back to work for awhile, then I will complete my instructions.
