225 HPDI noise when idling ??

225 HPDI noise when idling ?? - 10/09/17 09:54 AM

I have a 2007 HPDI series 2 that started making a noise when I am idling, it is not there all the time and the loudness of it changes each time that I am hear it. If you have ever heard a guinea hen that is what it sounds like. Not sure if it is a bearing or what?? any ideas

take it to a shop an have it checked out 2 strokes don't usually get better on their own.

Check your lower unit oil. Customer called me about a noise in his 250HPDI. Had him bring it by. Water in the lower oil and fishing line on the prop. Was able to save it by resealing and replacing the main shaft bearing on his. 1000.00 Had another 250HPDI customer was not so lucky. Top bearing went out, from no lubrication, ruining the housing and main shaft. 2300.00 for another lower unit.

compression is 111 to 118 on all 6 cylinders
