HPDI 175 issue.

HPDI 175 issue. - 07/30/17 12:22 AM

I have an 05 HPDI on my skeeter. The last few times I've taken it out I've noticed low idle on initial start up. The last time I took it out it stalled while attempting to get on plane. It would restart but anything over idle it would die. Ive replaced ALL the filters, mystery filters included. No change in performance. I have low pressure pumps on order. The old ones didn't seem to have catastrophic diaphragm failure. Any ideas? thanks

Update. Went to the lake to retest. Essentially go the same results. However I did notice that wh it died I could trim the motor almost all the way up and it would start and run. Plenty of power to run it back up on the trailer. Any more thoughts?

You might try bbcboards.net. they have an active yammie section.

This may be a long shot but it sounds kinda similar to when my tuner burned up on my 225 HPDI. Its a known problem on the 3.3L engines. Not sure on yours.

Ok thanks for the replies gentlemen. I'm gonna use a remote tank and check fuel pressure at the ramp. Low pressure pumps should be here in the next couple days.

Was only trying to convey that I was interested in the conversation, and how it turns out; I don't know much about this stuff, but am always willing to learn something new. popcorn

go get on The Hull Truth. there's enough info on there about HPDI's to write a book. when mine got to costing me more per year than a new engine would, i sold it and went four stroke. since they quit making em, then soon there won't be anything but used parts for em.
