Paint estimate

Paint estimate - 07/23/16 04:11 PM

Has anyone ever had the bottom of their boat repainted and clearcoated?
Thinking of getting mine redone and doing some other improvements, just not sure of the cost.
Im going to call some of the shops Monday just to get an idea and was curious if anyone on the TFF has done this

Marine clean in nacogdoches. It is suppose to add a couple mph on the big end. And be more durable in the stumps. It was on Ike's EYRA when he paked it in the trees. I think randy Howell has it on his triton also.

Look up hullspead marine coatings. I have always been pretty hard on my boats. I've had a gotorhull and a gorilla hull. Both have cost me some speed on the big end. I don't think that the hull speed paint is gonna be as durable as either of those. I have the boat down there for some gel coat repairs and decided to give this a shot. im not covering up any damage with this and requested pics of the bottom after the gel coat is repaired. I ran the boat Sunday before taking it down there and hit 71.3 mph loaded. I'm going to put all the tackle exactly where it was as my boat is very sensitive to how it is loaded to keep it balanced. I feel this will give me the most accurate reading on gained speed.

If you have any additional info on how your boat turned out please let us know. I am considering ordering some hullspeed and spraying my hull. Which Hullspeed product(s) are they applying to your boat?

Mainly interested in the Hull Protection/Durability aspect.
Also curious on how well it adheres to gelcoat and how the appearance turns out. I read it gets an orange peel appearance.
Any speed increases would just be icing on the cake if it protects well and looks nice.

Whatever you do do not let some joker spray it with any auto paint. Ever. It won't last a year. Ever.

So I got my boat back Friday and hauled [censored] up to sandlin for a club tournament Last weekend. It unloads and loads on the trailer much easier due to it being very slick. It has a texture much finer than a bed liner (not an orange peel like I was expecting). The hole shot isn't notably faster but my boat already was already fast out of the hole. As far as top speed gain I don't know as I forgot both of my graphs at the house. I think it is though because I was able to get a couple hundred more rpm. I have the graphs on it now just haven't had a chance to run it in the morning (ffing work is getting in the way). I should have a top speed number pretty soon.

So with hull speed on my boat for less than a month I can honestly tell you it didn't add any speed to my top end or hole shot. It is also coming off in numerous locations. I contacted hull speed today and they are saying it probably didn't get to cure long enough. But after talking to Jason at marine clean. All directions were followed to a t. Do not waste your money on hull speed bottom paint.
