buying a new boat...and need some input! - 06/13/16 02:56 AM

I am looking to buy a new Bass boat. Think I have it narrowed down to 2 models, but I have never been on one of them. The two I have been considering is the Nitro Z18 and the Stratos 186. I am limited on size so looking around the 18' mark (fits in the garage), and have taken Ranger and Skeeter off the list as they are 8-10K more for that size boat.

The one I haven't been on is the Stratos, so I am curious how they ride. Either boat I plan on outfitting it with the 115 Mercury engine.

I am also open to other brands in the same price point ($25K) and length. Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure about either of those but I do have a recommendation though either way go with the maximum horsepower rated for the boat (which is prolly a 150) believe my you'll be glad you did. I do have a recommendation and that is look at the Triton, I have the Tr-186 dual console and have had it since new in 2001. It is a very good 18'6" platform. Lots of storage and deck space as well as a decent ride for it's size. Mine has the 150 on it which was max rating when I bought it but I think they have increased it now to a 175. The 150 pushes it fine but if it would have come with a 175 I would have bought it that a way too. You never want to be in an under powered boat trust me just for your use let alone if you ever try to trade or sell it.

Not sure if you're still looking buddy, but here's a link to all the issues that's popped up on my 2016 Z21 that's less than 2 months old.

Find a couple year old sabre. It will take a lot of abuse.
