Prop help - 05/23/16 02:03 AM

I have a 17' aluminum boat with a 2000 Yamaha F80 four stroke motor. I am getting some small vibrations with the motor. It has the original aluminum prop which has some what I would describe as normal wear to the prop blades from minor dings and dents. I was thinking about replacing the prop to maybe correct the vibration and maybe gain a little more top speed. Where do I start when deciding on a new prop? I believe the prop that is on there now is a 13.5" but unsure of the pitch. Should I go to a stainless steel prop or stay with aluminum? Definitely don't want to do anything to damage the motor or put undue stress on it.

You probably have a vibration from a bent blade. Very easy to do with aluminum. Give me a call in the mornjng and we can talk props for a bit. 903 763 0200.

if you use your boat around a bunch of rocks and what have you, stick with a cheap aluminum prop. why tear up a 500 dollar prop. If not, get with a prop guy ^^^^^ get you a quality stainless, they can be worked into exactly what you want.
