Trolling Motor Stopped Working - 05/22/16 12:02 AM
I was fishing a tournament today, and the breaker kept tripping killing my trolling motor. I'd go back and reset the breaker and it would work fine. Eventually the breaker got to the point where the trip button would not stay engaged, and the motor would not work at all. I thought I just had a bad breaker, but I tried to bypass the breaker and the motor still wouldn't work.
Motor is a 3 year old 82# MK Fortrex.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Clean around the prop lately? Sounds like it's getting bound up by old fishing line or grass or full of water. Causing excessive current draw

Yes, I did check that and it was free of line. Thanks for the response.

Many times a bad connection on the breaker, battery cables at the trolling motor or at wire ends at the battery`s will cause the breaker to kick. When a breaker has kicked out several times it will become weak.

Had very bad rust inside one of the breakers. Problem fixed. Thanks.
