Flow-rite control cable replacement length?

Flow-rite control cable replacement length? - 05/16/16 03:12 PM

I have a 2005 tzx190. One of the control cables is physically broken for the open/close valve. I understand I can order this part from Flow-Rite but what length do I need?

Also I am having trouble locating where the cable meets the valve. I've read some different posts where someone removed a gas tank and another person only had to remove the oil tank. Can anyone clarify?

Every valve I've ever seen is somewhere between the back of the livewells and the transom (and usually in the center of the boat since the livewells are). That narrows down the "where" quite a bit. Next, look at where your livewell thru-hull fittings are - that's probably bottom edge of the transom, further endorsing where to find the valves on the other side of the transom. Lastly, start removing things to get to the "suspect area".

I would suggest not pulling out the piece of cable at the console until you check whether you can see/reach it from the valve. It may be a good idea to try to tape a string to it. Feeding cables through some hulls can be problematic without a pull-string.

I went to Home depot and bought an Electricians steel tape to help pull my cable through. Once you find and unhook the cable tape it to the tape and pull it out. Then tape new cable to tape and pull it back in. Makes it a lot simpler and the tape didn't cost but like 15 bucks.
