Texas Law about Transom tie downs - 05/13/16 05:36 AM
I always tought it was mandatory that you needed to have two tie down straps on the stern of a boat while trailering.
Is this so?

Regardless of the law I would feel very comfortable with the tie down on the stern while trailering.

Whether it is required by law or not, it's a good practice. If you hit a bump in the road, it's better that the trailer's suspension system absorb the shock instead of having the transom bounce and slam down on the trailer.

Always the right decision to use tie-downs in the back and a chain on the front.
I live 2 miles from the ramp, usually I dont put my stern straps on unless Im going to a different lake
