225 Pro Xs Mystery Oil Leak.

I've been looking for a leak on my engine the past few weeks. It's collecting in the splash pan and seeping out on to mid section through drain. I've looked at the hoses and have found no leaks. Oil is heaviest under starboard (right) side by oil pump. There are I believe 7 small hoses going to all cylinders and one to the compressor I believe. I tighten the bolts on the plenum as well. Inspected reservoir on motor and looks fine.

I've ran it on muffs and can't see anything after I've cleaned it. I've even taken splash pan off and no visible drip. This leak must occur at higher rpm's when running. I've heard there is a small return line under the fly wheel that could have fallen off but I need to still look into this if it is true.

I'm beginning to think oil pump has a leak. Any one have similar experiences or could help shed some light?

I will look but I remember a service bulletin from Mercury about this.

My 250 Pro XS did the same thing. They had to replace oil pump. I was lucky it was under warranty. I took it back 3 times before they figured it out.

Just had oil pump on 2015 pro xs 175 replaced. Shop said Mercury told them to replace it.No one could find leak so I'm anxious to see if it's fixed

Yep me too. Multi injection oil pump . If your leaking your not getting proper oil to cylinders. Do not run with it leaking. 1200 bucks it cost me, and they have to prime new thru computer .

There's a thread on BBC about this. Looks like it may be a problem
