Skeeter Handrails

Hey there, I am looking at used skeeters, but every older model seems to have the handrails on each side. I really do not like that feature. So, can those handrails be removed? I should mention I am looking at bass boat models (not fish n' ski).

I have a 2004 zx225 and removed mine and plugged the holes.
