hole shot/jack plate

hole shot/jack plate - 09/04/15 10:23 AM

08 skeeter zx 250 with 12" jack plate. Sometimes it jumps right out of the hole sometimes it just noses up and won't break plane. Would the jack plate adjustment have anything to do with this?

jackplate or pvs holes need different plugs, weight could be it, kinda need more info.

what engine, what rpm when trying to get on plane, what prop?

sounds like the prop is not spinnin up quick enough, steve will be along to correct me though. grin

Had a 2007 doing same thing and found the high pressure pump was going out. Would have intermittent low fuel pressure. Have the fuel pressures checked. That boat with a 250 HPDI should launch straight up no matter where the jack plate is.

an intermittent hole shot issue is not the prop or setup, unless there is a load variation when
it's doing it.

i'd agree with Gary. something in the motor is giving ya the issue.

12 to 14 inch setback. 2.75" below pad. 25T1 prop.. this is the setup.

It is 250 HPDI. The weight never changes in it. I believe it's a 27 t 1 15 1/2" prop. New powerhead. Thanks for the input

Check the TPS and plugs

What IS TPS? I'm just a dumb plumber, I know nothing mechanically but I have done some research on the high pressure pumps and I'm not sure I am ready to spend that kind of money plus labor.

Throttle Position Sensor
Nobody likes forking over cash for repairs but if your fuel pump is failing it will grenade that motor quick. You need to find someone to pull fault codes before you run it again.

OK, it's at the shop. Will know sometime next week what the problem is.

how many rpms can you turn at wide open?

the 27T1's were common to see skeeter put on that boat when it left the factory.. unfortunately once loaded down
to go fishing the 27 was just too much pitch.. causing poor hole shots and low rpm at wide open.

the hpdi likes to run around 5800 rpms. in most cases the 25T1 is the prop to run.

Thanks for all the input. I don't believe it but they said it wasa throttle cable. Anybody trade props?
