Beeping alarm

Beeping alarm - 07/06/15 05:07 PM

I have a 98 Basscat with a 200 Mariner magnum EFI anyways I took it out yesterday and whenever I'd get up to 35-40 MPH my alarm would go off. It wasn't continuous just a beep here and there. It only beeped on plain and at that speed range. I have plenty of oil, drained the fuel water separator and it is still doing it. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing it? Any help would be appreciated.

If everything checks out ok then it may be your oil drive gear failing on the crankshaft.

Update: Checked all above mentioned possibilities and took the boat out yesterday. Got on plane and drove at 40 mph for about 2 minutes and beeper alarm went off continuously so putting a new impeller(as recommended by mercury dealer) in today to see if that fixes the problem. It's kind of aggravating if that is the problem since I just had a new lower end put on last month.

Just for your information a beep alarm is very short, solid tone is very long. It is very possible your poppet assembly or thermostats need serviced unless you ran the motor out of the water too long.

I never and do not know any mechanics or shops that do not install a new water pump unless they put one in 30 days or less before it went out.

Are you saying we have to be politically correct in working on boats now. If we do I quit.

A new impeller was installed in my new lower end. I put another new one with new gaskets in but still beeped. Drained the fuel water separator again and found water in it. Beeping has stopped. I feel kinda stupid for not draining the filter more than once since it happened before with my other boat but who would of thought higher octane gas would have water in it. I guess that gas doesn't get purchased as often an just sits there. Thanks for all the help everyone that responded.
