HPDI 175 - 06/18/15 08:42 PM

Just bought a boat that has a Yamaha HPDI 175 on it. What kind of matinence do these motor require. I've heard Yamis like their additives. Thanks in advance.

- Change water seperator filter every year.
- Change lower unit oil every two years.
- If motor is surging at top speeds change all filters; especially the hard to get to one that is internal over the carbs..
- Pull the prop. often to check for line.
- Put gas treatment in on each fill up.
- Change the impeller every 3 years; and water pump every 6 years.
- I am not a fan of Yamalube treatment and do not like any other additives.

Great engine, you will enjoy it and spend more time on the water because of your purchase.

What about ring free?

I run both ring free and Yammie fuel stabilizer. Cheap insurance in my opinion. Mine has been trouble free for three years with 120 hours and is stingy on the oil.
I only use Yamalube. I buy in but at the dealer for $22/gallon. At a 50:1 ratio that is over $125 in gas for every $22 in oil.
