2000 Yamaha F80 starting problems

2000 Yamaha F80 starting problems - 04/21/15 07:02 PM

I have recently had the carbs cleaned and synced. Now when I try to start it it turns over and over and over. Doesn't seem to do anything when I choke it by pressing in the key. One shot of carb cleaner in the air filter and it starts right up, and starts right up for the rest of the day. Let it sit even for 24 hours and right back to where I started. How can I tell if choking it by pressing in on the key is actually working? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is your engine mounted fuel pump is shot

Is there a way to definitively tell if it's good or bad? Oh and in case you haven't noticed I am no mechanic.

And I'm a shadetree mechanic... Not sure on that model but the service manual would have the test
worth the money if you don't have one. You'll need to pull a vacuum on it I'd guess. Since it's
a 2000 it might be time for it to get a little tlc.

They're not cheap that motor, I'd guess there is a rebuild kit Pump
