Low Oil Alarm Help - Yamaha 4 Stroke - 06/17/12 11:25 PM

Need some help. The low Oil Alarm went off a couple of times on a 225 Yamaha 4 stroke after about 10 mins of running. Turned the motor off, it reset and did it again after about another 10 mins. Turned it off again, ran back in at about 3000 RPM and it did not go off again. Changed the oil and filter, and took it out a couple of days later and the same thing.

Can anybody help?

Thanks in Advance.

Might want to post over on BBC if no one here chimes in soon. They have a specific section for Yamaha outboards and are quite helpful.

Low oil not low oil pressure right?

I would check the level as soon as possible after the alarm goes off. If it shows low you might have a blockage in the oil return passages.

If it isn't low I would have to lean towards a sensor going out and not reporting the correct oil level.
