Ok here it is no punches pulled! No one ever does research correctly word of mouth is just opinion.Yamaha 4 stroke outboards are not reliable they cut too many corners no stainless liner in exhaust outlets. Unreliable powerheads (SHO) AKA high preformance that are short lived time bombs in an attempt to match a 2 stroke. Hondas do not have these ongoing problems I wonder why! They use the same 4 stroke engine from their cars weather 4 or 6 cylinder the most reliable on the planet! Look at Mercury they are going to old reliable tech in their new 4 strokes not trying to compete with a 2 stroke. As far as 2 strokes go look to Evinrude E Tech reliable emit less exhaust gasses than any 4 stroke. This is just an general overview think for yourself and do not blame others for your mistake.
Now boat hulls here is one that will get your emotions in your own way! No wood in my boat I do not want rot. I get a lifetime warranty! When was the last time you checked the shatter foam stringers and transom of your boat? Never is the answer. Here is some facts for you to chew on. Wood has way better resistance to the forces expected in a boat hull. Now fully encapsulate it in epoxy resin with 2 layers of 6oz cloth it will not rot no water damage and the best at taking a beating. Prove otherwise I'm listening don't bring opinion bring facts. Skeeter well like most other manufactures market things with spin. Take my boat hull for example it was marketed as all wood fully encapsulated in fiberglass That was a LIE I can show you I am replacing what could not be seen exposed wood in blige area AKA stringers and floor! There will be no shatter foam installed by me. The goegens book free download will school you on epoxy wood composite they build ocean racing boats no shatter foam. Again do not blame others for your mistakes because you believed the LIES!

Two directions here... I have a 17-year-old boat with no wood just foam and fiberglass and no issues... I also have a 2 stroke HPDI the same age and not One major issue ever! but I do maintain it well... (knock on wood)

Have you checked the foam you cannot get to you may have issues you do not know about.

Maybe some kind of issues? the only way to tell is to find a soft spot or something shows itself... or maybe tear it apart and look smile

I have put in new scuppers and have seen the foam in the transom and didn't look like it had issues, I have cut holes thru the deck and everything looks fine, a layer of glass foam and a layer a glass...

My Pathfinder is far from built perfectly or even near it but I think if designed and done right it works. My boat has been floating for 18 years... it's still a pretty darn solid hull. I think it matters most who does the design, is production inspected and done right. Design and build it right with foam it works, design and build it right with wood and it works, the key is the build quality not so much the coring material

market place is where it gets settled if Honda could build a motor that would preform like a Yamaha or merc they would take over the business as far as lifetime warrantys on boats if you took the time to read most of them pretty much anything that is going to happen to a bat down the road is up to the builder.

Until Honda builds the dealer/service infrastructure to compete, they'll continue to be a 2nd rate company.

It's easier to get honda parts through a Tohatsu dealer than it is from a honda dealer.

I loved my Tohatsu 40 hp but when all the dealers in my area disappeared it left me with a 3-4 hour one way trip to get anything done. bang

Every Honda dealer I have been in has treated Honda like a step child so I have never even considered one.
